Principal's Report

  • Key Updates
    • Brainstormed ideas for Parents Reaching Out (PRO) Grants program for the upcoming school year, including working with board-approved organizations such as Harmony, Brave Education and X Movement.
    • Completed the School Council Annual Report as a group.
  • Actions
    • Ms. Hoover-Joy to review council spending cap for technology-related items for classrooms.

Treasurer's Report

  • Budget Overview
    • Fun Fair generated approximately $9,000 in profit
    • School Council account is approximately $20,000
  • Actions
    • Waiting on donation cheques from three Fun Fair food vendors

New Business & Ideas

  • Shared ideas for how to use council funds in the coming school year, including:
    • Providing teachers with a budget in September
    • Welcome BBQ with activities and a scavenger hunt for new families to Castlemore Public School
    • Gift packs for each teacher for their classroom
    • Fund school bus trips
  • Bring back Castlemore Tigers clothing items such as hoodies and t-shirts for students and staff to purchase. Possibility of council helping to subsidize purchases. 

Fun Fair Debrief

  • Fun Fair generated approximately $9000 in profit
  • Reviewed ticket count for each station and discovered key learnings
  • Should we add more inflatable games next year?
  • General feedback was positive, but having more activities would be great
  • Hand out maps with tickets next year
  • Hire an emcee host to walk around and generate excitement
